There have been quite a few reports recently from people in the Oldham area, including Shaw and Crompton, saying they have seen green parrots in their garden, believing they are someone's lost pet(s)
It it very likely that they are in fact Ring-necked parakeets
The UK's only naturalised parrot - it is large, long-tailed and green with a red beak and a pink and black ring around its face and neck. In flight it has pointed wings, a long tail and very steady, direct flight.
There have been increased sightings of these birds recently in North of England.
